I took a weekend trip to New York to see some Intermeccanica vehicles and people.  Below is a brief synopsis of my trip and some photos (see underlined text) to accompany my not-so-exciting commentary.

I (John Wilkens) started out on Saturday by meeting Loring Burnett (founder of the original Intermeccanica Owner's Club).   Loring lives in Long Island on a Peninsula called Lloyd's Head.  The majority of our afternoon visit was spent in his Great Room which overlooks the water and forest of his back property.  I brought my laptop and scanner along for the trip, so I spent a few hours scanning photographs and sales literature, memorobilia, etc. from Loring's collection.  Loring owns two Italias at the present time, one driver and one parts car.  Loring, his lady friend, and I  went out Saturday night to have dinner at "East" on Long Island.

The first part of Sunday was spent at Roy Jaffe's house which is also on Long Island.  Roy Jaffe is one of the most interesting people that I have ever met.  Roy was soley responsible for the design of the 1953 Oldsmobile of which I was able to see original drawings and sketches.  Roy had worked for General Motors starting back in 1949.  Roy owns an Apollo amidst his collection of Rolls Royce, Mercedes 500k, and other vehicles such as Avantis, etc.  His 500k had the largest engine that I've ever seen (close to four feet long)!

The late afternoon and evening on Sunday was spent in Leroi Ambers Apartment/Penthouse across the water from Manhatten in New Jersey, where the photo above was taken of the city line.  Leroi is a professional Photographer among other things and he supplied me with some photos of his car as well as some other information.
